Creating Calm
Entry #4
Calm
Most people can never find time to wind down and relax. Too much going on in their lives stresses them out, and they can never find a sense of calm. We should all make space for calm in our lives and not focus on all the stressful things around us. Everyone needs calm every day, and some do not know how to achieve that. I will admit that I did not until I learned what it meant to find quiet and relaxation daily. I will now share with you some things I do to achieve this calm everyone knowingly or unknowingly seeks.
One of the first things I did was silence all of the notifications from my phone or other devices that I often use that were not beneficial to me, such as mobile game notifications, social media notifications, and anything else that was not precisely necessary. You may be thinking now, "Okay? Now, what if those are absolute necessities in my life?" Are they really? Do you really need all of the notifications you get throughout the day? Are they so important that you sacrifice your time to do things that will give you calm and relaxation for notifications that will be there for you to answer later? Really think about the top priority things and what may just be there to stress you out.
Another thing that helped me was doing things outside, like taking a walk or just sitting out and reading a book to really let my mind relax, and I still do this every day; now you may be thinking, "I don't have time to sit outside and read a book or just relax, I have kids, or I have so many commitments and things I do throughout the day, I have calls to make and meetings to attend, I have school work and work to do! I am way too busy!" I get that we live in a busy world that requires us to be stressed out and do things in a rush, never stopping. But what if instead of adding commitments, calls, meetings, and other things to your plate... you remove some of them.
Ultimately, I want you to question everything society tells you to do instead of finding calm and tranquility. Consider the above things to slow down the rush of it all. We all deserve calm and should prioritize our health and wellness.
This is really good advice. Finding quiet time for calm allows us to self-reflect as well, which is incredibly important for character development. I wonder if philosophy would even exist had we always been so distracted from our own thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThis is an engaging blog, I like how you've directly addressed common objections people have regarding finding time to relax. The advice is approachable and relatable. it would be good to add specific examples or benefits you've personally experienced from implementing these practices, which could resonate even more strongly with your readers. Overall, great job encouraging mindfulness and prioritizing calmness.
